Former Paris Saint-Germain defensive midfielder Thiago Motta is a name circulating the rumor mill as a potential manager for the capital club when they decide to part ways with Thomas Tuchel. However, if Motta were to take over the managerial role, it won’t come as an in-season replacement.
Motta’s agent, Alessandro Canovi, made an appearance on Calciomercato, discussing the possibility of his client taking over for Tuchel.
“At PSG, there is a coach who has done a good job. This year has had a difficult start due to poor preparation. But I do not think that there are the conditions for a change,” Canovi said. “Thiago had some interesting matches in Genoa, but the context was difficult, exposed. He continued his training and finished first. He has received European and other offers, but he is waiting for the right project.
“He has big ambitions. I’m sure we’ll find the right project to make him realize his ideas. Who will be the coach at PSG? We are not only talking about Allegri but also about Pochettino for next summer. But you already have to know what will happen with Tuchel, because in football, you know, if you win, you are right.”
During the interview, Canovi made it known that he’s a fan of the PSG project and hopes that Kylian Mbappé remains in Paris.
“I love the PSG project. I hope it stays there. It seems complicated to me to go and take it even when you’re Real Madrid. We have to wait and see what the market looks like next summer,” Canovi said. “I have serious doubts that huge operations will become possible, except for English clubs. The most expensive operation has been performed by Napoli this year, and I think next summer, there will be even less movement.”
