Video: Stade Rennais Manager on Playing PSG Without Having To Face Neymar and Mbappé

Stade Rennais will head to the French capital to take on Paris Saint-Germain. Both squads are coming off losses this week in UEFA Champions League action as the capital club fell 2-1 to RB Leipzig; meanwhile, Renne lost to Chelsea FC 3-0.

Before their match against Les Parisiens Rennes, manager Julien Stéphan spoke with the media with Canal Supporters relaying his words on playing a PSG squad without their two superstars, Neymar Jr., and Kylian Mbappé.

“I’m not sure that Paris and ordinary sound good together. It’s a very strong team. When we can still line up Di Maria, Kean, and Sarabia, it speaks. It is certain that these two players are phenomenal players who are able to change the course of the match at the slightest opportunity. It will be a PSG team that will play differently, but it remains a strong team.”

Then Stéphan also discussed preparing his squad for the reigning Ligue 1 champions without Neymar and Mbappé.

“These are movements of different players with the players who will replace them. They have different characteristics, different movements. An animation that can vary. Obviously, this has implications for pre-match preparation. After the mistake not to make when playing these teams, it’s to focus too much on them. Obviously, there are enormous strengths but above all, you have to think of yourself,” Stéphan said.

“We will absolutely have to be more rigorous at key moments. We will have to show determination, character to be able to express our qualities. Paris is the best attack for PSG, us the second. They have the best possession and we are the second. We will have to fight on our strengths.”
