Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel is on the hot seat after losing to RB Leipzig on matchday three of the UEFA Champions League group stage. The majority of supporters want the German gone, especially if the capital club fails to qualify for the tournament’s knockout stages.
Despite the French football media and Les Parisiens supporters calling for his firing, AS Monaco manager Niko Kovač came to the defense of Tuchel during his pre-game press conference. The PSG manager responded with gratitude that a fellow coach would stick up for him when he spoke for his pre-game press conference.
“It was a great surprise. I know him very well and vice versa. He is also a strong and courageous coach with a clear plan on the field. It is always difficult to play against your teams. It is normal as a coach that we protect ourselves from criticism,” Tuchel said.
“We are a group of coaches, and it is necessary to encourage each other. He will give everything against me, they are a disciplined and physical team on the field. It is a great competition for us, and that is good. It will also make us grow.”
