After Paris Saint-Germain fell 2-1 on matchday three of the UEFA Champions League against RB Leipzig, newly acquired midfielder Danilo Pereira didn’t particularly like where manager Thomas Tuchel has him playing since arriving from FC Porto.
Tuchel has the 29-year-old playing as a central defender while pushing Marquinhos into the midfield. During his postgame interview, Pereira made it known that he’s a midfielder and not a defender, but he respects his coach and plays wherever he’s asked to play.
Portugal National Team manager Fernando Santos backed his player during a press conference where RMC Sport relayed his words and stated that he respects Tuchel, but Pereira is a midfielder.
“I have a lot of respect for Tuchel, he has his opinions, and I have mine, and, for me, Danilo is a midfielder,” Santos said. “I have already thought about making him play defender, but, for me, it is above all a midfielder. And so it will be in selection.”
