Video: Alessandro Florenzi on Neymar’s Leadership, Fixture Against Rb Leipzig, Absences From the Squad, and Future at PSG

Alessandro Florenzi is becoming a steal of a transaction for Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo.

The Brazilian brought in the AS Roma right-back on loan from the Italian club, but it’s his price that could also keep in the French capital along with his current form. Les Parisiens have an option to buy and have to pay between €8-million and €9-million to make Florenzi’s tenure permanent, according to Canal Supporters

Florenzi spoke with RMC Sport’s Top of the Foot to discuss the current status of the squad. One of the first topics of discussion is over Neymar and his leadership skills.

“The one who has been Neymar the most,” Florenzi said. “When you see a player in a game, only then you see once. But when you see him trained, his commitment, how he works on a day-to-day basis, how he wants to help. He is a leader. You have to follow his example. But that applies to many other players in Paris.”

The conversation then transitioned to the UEFA Champions League matchday three fixture against RB Leipzig.

“It’s a very important game. We will have to play a great game. I think I have recovered 100%. The head plays a big role, the motivation too. At the moment, I feel physically and mentally well, better than in years,” Florenzi said.

“I feel different; a player with more experience. I hope to bring this experience to the many young people who are here. They want to learn, and I hope to help them.”

Florenzi then touched on the many absences from the capital club squad.

“As you said, the period is not easy, neither mentally nor physically. We have given a lot. We are a strong team. And we also see it during international breaks. There are only a few players left here. So we’re still under pressure,” Florenzi said.

“In addition to the seven monthly matches, we must add the matches in selection for many. It’s difficult. There are a lot of trips that complicate the situation. We have to learn to deal with all of this.”

Finally, the 29-year-old touched on his future in Paris.

“At the moment, I honestly don’t think about it,” Florenzi said. “Currently, my team is PSG. I feel good here. But I respect my past, which I have done before. Right now, I have to give 100% to PSG, at least until the end of the season, and then we’ll see.”
