Ruiz-Atil Addresses Incident With Leonardo Amid Contract Extension Talks With PSG

Kays Ruiz-Atil was involved in a small controversy after Paris Saint-Germain’s victory against FC Nantes. In his return to the dressing room, there’s a clip in which Leonardo, PSG’s sporting director, is trying to pull aside the teenager to have a conversation. Still, Ruiz-Atil continued walking into the locker room.

Although the video aspects does spark controversy, the 18-year-old decided to head to his Instagram to share what happened between him and Leonardo.

“I am making this video for deny certain comments seen on social networks. I get along very well with Leonardo. I have a lot of respect and esteem for him,” Ruiz-Atil said.

“That you don’t see in the video is the hug between us just before. I will never disrespect Leonardo and the PSG institution, who gave me their full confidence. Here is Paris. See you on Wednesday, Ici c’est Paris.”

The attacking midfielder is already PSG manager’s Thomas Tuchel rotation after playing five games in Ligue 1, with the most recent being against Nantes.

With the 18-year-old’s contract expiring at the end of the season, L’Equipe reports that the capital club has offered a contract extension to Ruiz-Atil and his representatives.

Furthermore, the French media outlet states that the teenager seems to have fit in with Neymar Jr. and the rest of the South Americans, so it seems he’s adjusting well to the professional environment and might want to stick around.

Nonetheless, other PSG youth products were integrated into the squad but chose to pursue greener pastures. It will be interesting to see if that’s the route that Ruiz-Atil chooses.
