Report: Verratti Expected to Resume Training This Week

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti is slated to be back in training this week, the club announced (via RMC Sport).

Verratti has been sidelined as of late due to a quad injury. Verratti suffered the injury during the October international break while with the Italian national team last month, and PSG has kept him out of collective training since then. The Italian national team elected not to call him up for its November international fixtures due to his injury.

Verratti’s recent absence has forced PSG manager Thomas Tuchel to shuffle his midfield setups. The German manager recently elected to bring back Marquinhos to the central defensive midfield role, and he has provided starting minutes to the likes of Rafinha and Ander Herrera.

If all continues to go well with his recovery, Verratti should be in line to make his return to action in PSG’s Ligue 1 fixture against AS Monaco.
