Report: PSG Still Open to Signing Bayern Munich Defender on a Free Transfer Deal

Paris Saint-Germain has been long linked with current FC Bayern Munich defender David Alaba. Just last month, PSG had been rumored to still be in on possibly signing the Bayern defender on a free transfer deal when his contract is up next year. Now as Sport Bild‘s Christian Falk reports, PSG has “concrete interest” in completing a deal for Alaba.

The report also linked clubs such as Juventus and Manchester City to showing serious interest in the soon-to-be free agent defender. But per the report, Alaba is more so preferring to sign with either FC Barcelona or Real Madrid.

Alaba’s time with Bayern may soon be coming to an end. The two sides were in talks for a possible contract extension deal and Bayern decided to submit an offer to the defender in hopes of striking a deal before he becomes a free agent. But due to a conflicting standstill in negotiations, Bayern elected to withdraw its offer.

With Bayern currently not relying on Alaba past this season, clubs such as PSG will likely continue to monitor his play this season and come to a conclusion next year on whether to seriously push to sign the talent on a free transfer agreement.
