Report: Former PSG Midfielder Could Take Over if Thomas Tuchel Is Sacked

After Paris Saint-Germain fell 2-1 on matchday three of the UEFA Champions League to RB Leipzig, the cries to fire manager Thomas Tuchel are as loud as ever.

The capital club is currently third in Group H, three points behinds Leipzig and if they’re unable to advance into the knockout stages, it’s a catastrophic disaster. Although clubs like Liverpool FC have won Europa League in the past under Jürgen Klopp, Les Parisiens didn’t spend the money to buy Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappé for Thursday nights.

PSG will have to win out their last three matches, but they could do so without Tuchel at the helm. According to Spanish journalist Francesc Aguilar of Mundo Deportivo, former capital club midfielder Thiago Motta is sporting director Leonardo’s choice to salvage their Champions League season.

Motta has some coaching experience as he managed within the PSG youth system and did gain first-team managerial experience with Genoa CFC; however, that didn’t go well as he ended up being sacked by the Italian club.

Nonetheless, if Leonardo gets his way, Motta could be guiding Les Parisiens soon, and we will see if he learned from any of his mistakes while managing Genoa.
