Rafinha is arguably one of the closest teammates to Neymar in recent years. The two have played multiple games together at FC Barcelona, the Brazilian national team and now with Paris Saint-Germain. Rafinha has a first-hand account of Neymar’s on-field prowess and also with how he is off the pitch.
Much has been talked about Neymar’s growing maturity over his current run with PSG, although this was not an issue during his Barca tenure. But for Rafinha, he is noticing stark differences in how the forward is now compared to how he was while at Barca. Rafinha briefly touched on this in talking to Telefoot.
“I found a much more mature player than at Barca,” Rafinha said. “Neymar is world-class, one of the best in the world. It’s a privilege to play with him.”
PSG is currently set for a pivotal fixture when it faces RB Leipzig in a rematch of its UEFA Champions League group stage loss earlier this month. Rafinha also spoke about the mentality in aiming to come away with a much-needed win.
“The game against Leipzig is extremely important,” Rafinha said. “It is a key event, and there is only one way to face it, and that is by winning.”
This surely is an early season-test for the club.
