Mbappe Has Gone a Career-High 8 Straight Champions League Games Without Scoring a Goal

Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe is on a tear in Ligue 1 play this season. He currently leads Ligue 1 in goals with nine and is on pace for another 30-goal campaign in league play. However, Mbappe has not been able to carry this strong play over to the UEFA Champions League competition.

The French forward has yet to score a goal in Champions League group stage play this season.

This is not a new issue for Mbappe.

After not scoring a goal in PSG’s recent Champions League home group stage fixture against RB Leipzig, Mbappe made it eight straight games without scoring in this competition. He last scored a Champions League goal last season when he was on the scoresheet in PSG’s return group stage fixture against Galatasaray.

As RMC Sport points out, Mbappe has now gone 619 straight minutes without scoring in this competition.

Mbappe is at the least chipping in with goal contributions. He has logged four assists over these eight games, which includes the game-winning assist in PSG’s Champions League quarterfinal win against Atalanta last season.

For PSG, this drought in goals from the forward should not be a grand concern just yet. Mbappe is one player who can quickly turn the tide with his potent play.
