Last month, Presnel Kimpembe had arguably his finest performance for the French national team over its UEFA Nations League group stage fixture against Portugal. The Paris Saint-Germain defender helped keep Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal scoreless on the game as France finished with a 0-0 draw.
In impressive fashion, Kimpembe managed to repeat his strong performance in the return group stage fixture against Portugal. France pulled away with the 1-0 win to essentially clinch a spot in the Nations League knockout stage. Kimpembe held his own with several key plays over the contest and also filled up the stat sheet.

Kimpembe impressed at thwarting away threatening attacking sequences from Portugal. From keen defensive positioning to superb off-ball awareness, he proved to manager Didier Deschamps that he can be relied on to perform in pivotal fixtures for the national team.
France has a vast amount of quality out at the center-back position. So Kimpembe surely realizes that his current standing as one of the team’s starting center-backs is being evaluated on a game-by-game basis. But so far, he is showcasing that it is his starting job to lose now.
