‘I Was Impatient At Times’ — Digne Reflects on Run With PSG

Lucas Digne joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2013 as one of the most promising full-backs in Europe. His PSG tenure did not necessarily live up to the hype. He did not establish himself as a clear starting left-back while at PSG. He wound up agreeing to a season-long loan stint at AS Roma before subsequently leaving PSG for FC Barcelona on a permanent transfer deal.

Digne reflected on his PSG run during an interview with RFL. He admitted that he often felt impatient while at PSG, and overall, he does not have many regrets from his stint with the Ligue 1 powerhouse.

“I was impatient at times,” Digne said. “In Paris, I could have been more patient before I left. I needed to play more often. But when I look at my career, I can only be proud of it.”

Digne has found his footing at Everton. The French defender is now among the top attacking full-backs in the Premier League, as he is a regular contributor in creating goal-scoring opportunities for his side. But had he stayed at PSG and simply been more patient, he could have had a real shot at becoming the side’s go-to left-back sometime down the road.
