Former Barcelona sporting director Javier Bordas has been much talked about this week following his interview with Mundo Deportivo. For one, he touched on the Neymar transfer saga from 2019. He continued to talk about last year’s drama-filled saga in an interview with Cadena Cope’s “El Partidazo de Cope” program.
Bordas carried on by revealing the exact offer that almost pushed Paris Saint-Germain to sell Neymar after two seasons.
“We offered PSG €110 million-plus [Jean Clair] Todibo, [Ivan] Rakitic, and the loan of [Ousmane] Dembele,” Bordas said. “PSG wanted €130m plus Todibo, Rakitic, and Dembele on loan.
“Neymar was €20m away from coming back. Neymar’s father said that he would make up the difference but in the end that didn’t happen.”
Barcelona was extremely close to bringing back Neymar, but in the end, he stayed put at PSG. He has since gone on to lead the club to multiple domestic trophy wins and an appearance in the UEFA Champions League final.
