Barcelona Presidential Candidate Makes Outlandish Claim that Neymar Today is ‘Not Even Among the 30 Best Players in Europe’

FC Barcelona is set to soon hold an election to decide its next club president. Now-former Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu recently departed on controversial terms, so board officials are already eyeing just who will be the one to lead the club into its next era.

Numerous candidates have already thrown in their hats into seeking to become Barcelona’s next club president, including former club executive Toni Freixa. Among the topics that Freixa and several other candidates have already discussed is the possible return of Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar. Freixa is among those who have ruled out such a return, and he took it a step further when discussing this matter with Cadena SER (via Marca).

“Neymar, because of his performance, is not even among the 30 best players in Europe right now,” Freixa said. “If I were president, I would not sign him.”

Everyone is surely entitled to their own opinion when it comes to this matter, and it would be interesting to hear about the 30 players who Freixa would have above Neymar in such a list.

Nonetheless, if Freixa goes on to win the upcoming Barca election, PSG will not have to worry anymore about Neymar possibly returning to the Catalan club.

  1. In my opinion Neymar is probably still a top 15, top 10 player in World Futbol WHEN he manages to stay on the field. His value as a player has taken many damaging hits from too many injuries (which his playing style invites) to his immature & un-disciplined behavior as well as assorted petulant actions which causes him to loose fans even in his own birthplace.
