Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting was presented to the press by FC Bayern Munich. One of the questions that sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić answered was over the decision to sign a 31-year-old backup striker.
Salihamidžić pointed at Choupo-Moting’s performance for Paris Saint-Germain in the quarterfinals. He scored the game-winning goal over Atalanta BC, which sent the capital club into the semi-finals.
“We saw in Lisbon how important Choupo-Moting can be. I know from my own experience how important it is to have good attackers. We need a lot of good offensive players, and we also know how good Eric Maxim is,” Salihamidžić said.
Furthermore, although he didn’t mention it, Choupo-Moting understands his role as a backup and won’t try to demand more than what the club offers in terms of minutes.
