After having lost to Manchester United on matchday one of the UEFA Champions League group stage, Paris Saint-Germain needed to come away with three points to stick with RB Leipzig and Manchester United FC, who both picked up wins.
Despite being the superior side, the capital club got off to a sluggish start as they failed to score in the first half of the match. Nonetheless, even with that concerning start, PSG walked away with a 2-0 win over İstanbul Başakşehir courtesy of two Moise Kean goals.
Rafinha didn’t get the start in the midfield, but the Brazil international did see action in the match coming on as a replacement for Ángel Di María. The 27-year-old spoke with PSG TV to discuss the victory.
“We knew it was a very important match tonight. We needed to come out with these three points, first because of the team’s confidence and also to return to victory in this group stage,” Rafinha said. “It was a tough game against a great team that knows how to play ball, so these three points are very important.”
