During their media availability ahead of their match against Paris Saint-Germain, Ole Gunnar Solskjær announced that Bruno Fernandes would serve as captain for The Red Devils.
When the Portugal international received the captain’s armband from Solskjær, it was something that he didn’t expect. Nonetheless, he did say that although he’s the captain for the match against PSG, that the other players on the squad need to provide leadership.
Also, Fernades spoke about the mentality that the United squad has heading into the match against Les Parisiens.
“When you play for a club like Manchester United, you have to aim for trophies. I don’t know if we’re going to win, but it’s important. United’s mentality is to win and always win. It would be nice if we could win trophies this season,” said Fernandes.
“Captain tomorrow? I was not expecting this. I learned it at the same time as you. It is an honor. Being captain of Manchester United is an important accomplishment. But everyone has to be a leader. Each player is a leader in their own way.”
