Video: ‘The Club Cannot Move Forward’ – French Football Analyst on the Tensions Between Tuchel and Leonardo

The tension between Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel and sporting director Leonardo continues to be a talking point among French football media outlets.

Instead of the matter fizzling away after the back and forth words through the media both gentlemen had, it seems as though the issues are ongoing even after their 4-0 victory over Dijon FCO.

During his Perrot Face CamCanal Football Club analyst Pierre Ménès spoke about Tuchel’s decision to continue to play Marquinhos in the midfield and Danilo Pereira at central defense while also clashing with sporting director Leonardo.

“I want to hear Tuchel’s tactical explanations. Marquinhos should play in central defense in this team. Especially since PSG has committed this monumental bullshit of letting Thiago Silva go,” Ménès said. “Putting Danilo in central defense, I think when you go to play against big teams, it’s not good. And then the declarations of Tuchel who explains that he needs a guy at the heart of the game, he is the climax of Marquinhos, rightly, but who totally devalues a guy who has been there for two matches. It does not make sense.

“I have the impression that Tuchel is saying:’you saw what he does Leonardo, that’s a little bit of crap and I don’t think it can last,” Ménès said. “The club cannot move forward, progress, and have stability with a sporting director and a coach who are pushing each other like that. We will have to make choices.”
