Video: Mbappé Provides His Version of PSG’s All-Time Starting Eleven

For Paris Saint-Germain’s 50th anniversary, the club offered a couple of players from the current squad to choose their ideal capital club starting eleven. Kylian Mbappé dedicated himself to this exercise and gave his legendary eleven of Les Parisiens through a video shared on the club’s social media outlets.

The PSG striker composed his team in the formation 4-4-2, forming a diamond. He positioned Bernard Lama (1992-1997 / 1998-2000) as the goalkeeper. For the defense, Mbappé placed Dani Alves (2017-2019), Thiago Silva (2012-2020), Mario Yepes (2004-2008), and Maxwell (2012-2017).

“I chose Dani Alves for his entire career and for the player who was extraordinary. He brought us his experience, his quality, and his commitment. Thiago Silva? Because he is the best defense in the history of the club with everything he has contributed. He was here for a long time”, Mbappé said.

For the midfield, the 21-year-old went with Thiago Motta (2012-2018) as the defensive midfielder, Youri Djorkaeff (1995-1996), on the right side, Mustapha Dahleb (1974-1984) on the left, and Ronaldinho (2001-2003) at number 10.

“Thiago Motta has been instrumental in PSG’s game plan. He brought a lot to the new project, and I think it was natural that he chose him. Ronaldinho? I will make the choice of the heart. He left an extraordinary legacy on his way even though he only stayed for two years. I think it brought joy to all the fans,” Mbappé said.

Finally, for the attackers, Mbappé decided to choose two players from the top 3 of the best scorers in PSG history: Pedro Miguel Pauleta (2003-2008) and Zlatan Ibrahimović (2012-2016).

“Ibra took the club to a new dimension and gave the project new life. He made history and left being the top scorer in the club’s history (156 goals) before being overtaken by Edi Cavani (200 goals). Even on and off the pitch, he has transformed the club. For that alone, we have to put it on,” Mbappé said.

“Pauleta? He is also a player who has really characterized PSG. He had all the values and personality necessary to make him a good Parisian. He really represented PSG. When you think of PSG, you think of Pauleta.”
