Video: ‘I Admit I Don’t Quite Understand’ – ESPN Journalist Is Confused by Former PSG Striker’s Move To Manchester United

Edinson Cavani is reportedly on his way to Manchester United FC on a two-year deal. He only needs to pass a medical exam to make to deal official; however, the move is confusing for ESPN’s Julien Laurens, who made an appearance on After Foot RMC to discuss the free transfer.

“Cavani, that’s not what United needed. I admit I don’t quite understand,” Laurens said to the French media outlet.

The Uruguayan had multiple offers around Europe and settles on a club where he will play behind Anthony Martial, the current starting center-forward. El Matador wanted to stay in Europe to prepare for the 2019 Copa America next summer and FIFA World Cup in 2022, but in this situation, he will have beat out Martial for regular minutes.

  1. He was never going to a top European club to be the first choice striker unless he had gone to City where he would only have been first choice until Agüero is fit! At his age, like Olivier Giroud, he will have to accept being an impact sub until Martial has a bad game which, having watched the Frenchman since he arrived at Old Trafford, will probably be his next game!
