Different analysts and journalists within the French football media world are taking turns in throwing criticism at Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel.
It’s like the loss to Manchester United FC on matchday one of the UEFA Champions League group stage opened the floodgates for the media to begin criticizing the German manager.
Stéphane Bitton made an appearance on France Bleu Paris, where he didn’t hold back his opinions on Tuchel for his tactics. Bitton laid out some examples of his criticism over the PSG manager.
“Stop or again with Tuchel? For me, it’s stop. I have nothing against the man because he is sympathetic, but that is not enough to make him a good coach. For more than two years at PSG, Tuchel has shown nothing. I am always in demand of the Tuchel paw,” Bitton said.
“What is the impact of his speech? His tactics? Aligning three exceptional players in front and leaving them the keys to the truck is not enough, not enough. What was the idea of aligning three defensive midfielders against Manchester United? Why insist on putting Kylian Mbappé center-forward? Why leave Neymar in self-management? Thomas Tuchel, at the helm of PSG, is going straight into the wall.”
The 2020-21 season hasn’t gone the way Tuchel has planned. PSG got off to a slow start, including losing for the first time in nine years to rival Olympique de Marseille. They had a significant amount of players miss time due to coronavirus infections, and now they started their Champions League campaign with a loss at home.
If Tuchel cannot turn the ship around, he will see himself out of a job.
