Paris Saint-Germain had a stressful summer transfer window as the board struggled at times to shore up depth issues at multiple positions. The board had other priorities as well, such as possibly signing Neymar to a new contract extension deal, but no agreement materialized between the two over the window. Now, as Le10Sport reports, PSG has not yet pushed to even offer Neymar a new deal.
PSG and Neymar’s representatives met over the late stages of the summer transfer window to discuss the possibility of a new deal between the two sides, per the report. PSG was clear in its intention that it had plans to offer Neymar a new deal and expressed aiming to keep the Brazilian superstar in the long-term. Still, PSG left the meeting without placing a contract extension deal on the table for Neymar.
The forward’s current contract expires in two seasons, so PSG must act quickly to decide whether Neymar will be with the club in the long-term. The same applies for forward Kylian Mbappe, who the club also seeks to offer a new contract extension deal. But as with Neymar, Mbappe has not yet received an offer from PSG.
It is unclear at the moment where Neymar and Mbappe currently stand on their futures with PSG. If the two aim to stay on in the long-term, it would be a major win for PSG.
