Report: PSG President in Talks With Lyon Owner To Try and Steal Arsenal Transfer Target

The summer transfer will close in a few days, and Paris Saint-Germain supporters are growing anxious about whether or not the capital club will add another significant recruit.

After bringing in Alessandro Florenzi on loan from AS Roma a few weeks ago, Les Parisiens have stayed quiet on the transfer front. Yes, they did sign Alexandre Letellier and extended Marcin Bulka until 2025, but none of those transactions will help PSG return to a UEFA Champions League final. Much less convince Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappé sign extensions.

Much of the PSG supporters’ anger is towards sporting director Leonardo. Many thought they would address the squad’s weaknesses to get back to another Champions League final. However, that hasn’t occurred.

With only a few days left until reality sinks in and supporters realize this is the squad that will have to compete in the Champions League group stage. Nonetheless, it seems there might be some light for one last-ditch at recruiting a significant player to improve the squad.

According to L’EquipePSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is in talks with Olympique Lyonnais owner Jean-Michel Aulas over midfielder Houssem Aouar. The French media outlet reports that the capital club might not have the funds for Aouar at the moment. Al-Khelaifi wants to negotiate a similar deal that led to PSG landing Mbappé, which is a loan with an obligation to buy.

With both clubs making the Champions League’s semi-finals over a month ago, it seemed as though Aulas and Al-Khelaifi developed a close relationship, which is what the PSG president is looking to exploit.

Other clubs that have shown interest in Aouar are Arsenal FC and, to a lesser extent, Juventus FC
