Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar is not expected to feature for the side until after next month’s international break due to an adductor injury, according to a report from RMC Sport.
Neymar suffered the injury during the first half of PSG’s UEFA Champions League group stage win against Istanbul Basaksehir. Neymar took on a hard foul and immediately had to retreat to the sidelines in order to get checked out by PSG’s medical staff. The Brazilian forward did return to the pitch, but in the end, he had to call for manager Thomas Tuchel to make a substitution due to the injury.
For now, Neymar will miss PSG’s next three games, which include two league fixtures and next week’s Champions League group stage matchup against RB Leipzig. It is unclear at the moment whether the Brazilian national team will still plan to call up Neymar for next month’s international fixtures. PSG may likely prefer to see Neymar push to fully recover from his adductor injury before featuring in any fixture.
The injury news for PSG is, fortunately, a sigh of relief, as Neymar’s ailment is not deemed to be a serious one. At the least, Neymar will receive some time to rest, as he had certainly been fatigued from the team’s current heavy run of fixtures.
