For much of the summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain midfield talent Julian Draxler was very much rumored to possibly leaving the club. PSG seemed open to offloading Draxler, but for much of the window, there were no reports of any such team showing significant interest in acquiring the midfielder. He was then projected to stay with the club, but one Bundesliga team showed late interest in possibly offering a deal to PSG for the talent.
Bayer Leverkusen made one last late push to sign Draxler, according to a report from the German-based outlet Bild. Even though it was quite late in the transfer window, the German side showed interest in signing Draxler away from PSG. But with Draxler’s ambition in staying and the inability between the two clubs to strike on an agreement, a deal did not come to fruition for Leverkusen.
Leverkusen was linked with Draxler last month as it sought to find players that would help in replacing the now current void left by Kai Havertz. Still, there were no reports on the two clubs even reaching the negotiation stage of a transfer deal for the talent. The Bundesliga side could still re-open its interest in Draxler over the upcoming next transfer window.
