Report: Bayer Leverkusen Made Late Push to Sign Draxler

For much of the summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Julian Draxler was rumored to leave the club. PSG seemed open to offloading Draxler, and one Bundesliga team showed a late transfer interest in the German midfielder.

Bayer Leverkusen made a last late push to sign Draxler, according to a report from the German-based outlet Bild.

Even though it was quite late in the transfer window, the German side aspired to sign Draxler away from PSG. But with Draxler wanting to stay put at PSG coupled with the inability of the two clubs to reach an agreement for such a move, a deal did not come to fruition for Leverkusen.

Leverkusen was linked with Draxler last month as it sought to find players who could help in filling the void left by Kai Havertz. The Bundesliga side could very well reopen its interest in Draxler over the winter transfer window.
