An injury crisis has hit Paris Saint-Germain at an unfortunate time. The club just recently returned from the October international break and is slated to kick off UEFA Champions League group stage play next week. But multiple talents are currently out of action due to injuries.
PSG announced (via its official website) injury updates to multiple players, including the current status of midfielder Marco Verratti and defender Marquinhos.
Verratti is currently dealing with an injury to his “right quadriceps major femoris.” The midfielder had just returned from featuring with the Italian national team over the recent break. Verratti’s long-term status with the club is unclear at the moment.
Marquinhos also picked up an injury over the international break. He is currently out of action due to a right adductor injury, which players such as Julian Draxler have had to deal with this season. PSG ruled out Marquinhos for its fixture against Nimes Olympique, but the injury is not deemed to be a serious one. The side’s medical staff will reevaluate his condition in 48 hours.
PSG also announced injury updates with three other players. Draxler is dealing with a hamstring injury, but the club hopes to see him back in training next week. Mauro Icardi currently faces a right knee injury while Thilo Kehrer is still out of action due to his adductor injury.
At the least, for PSG, none of these medical issues are long-term serious ones. The club hopes to have all of these talents back in training within these upcoming weeks.
