‘It Was a Difficult Choice for Me to Leave’ — Former PSG Prospect on Signing With AS Roma

Paris Saint-Germain lost yet another prospect this year when Corentin Louakima left the club to sign with AS Roma last month.

Louakima announced the move on his official Instagram account. In a lengthy post, the prospect thanked God and spoke about the excitement in signing with Roma.

“Today is a blessed day for me, it is the signing of my first professional contract!,” Louakima said. “I thank the Almighty infinitely for all his blessings for me I will never praise the Lord enough for all that has given me!”

He wound up signing a three-year deal with Roma and is slated to pick off where he left off with PSG and feature with Roma’s youth system.

For Louakima, it was a decision that he had to thoroughly ponder about. But in the end, the 17-year-old prospect made the decision to leave PSG because he felt that it was best for his career. Louakiima spoke further to Le Parisien about signing with Roma.

“PSG is at home, a bit like a second family,” Louakima said. “But you had to see where I was going to play the most, gain the most playing time and pick up the pace. It was a difficult choice for me to leave. But to succeed in your dreams and goals, you have to know how to move forward.”

Louakima will certainly have the opportunities to showcase his defensive capabilities while in Roma’s youth system. He should also be slated to receive chances to possibly feature with Roma’s first-team down the line.
