‘I Wish him the Best, But he is No Longer One of Us’ — Mbappe on Former PSG Forward Cavani

One of the most talked-about storylines from this week’s UEFA Champions League group stage fixtures is Edinson Cavani’s return to the Parc des Princes. Cavani and Manchester United will take on PSG in a critical Champions League group stage contest on Tuesday. The focus will surely be on the homecoming for one of PSG’s all-time greats.

Although Cavani left the team on controversial terms, PSG players still appreciate the legacy that he left behind with the club. Still, PSG will not be focusing on this storyline over this week’s fixture. Instead, the club will be aiming to collect all three points and kick-off Champions league play on the right track. For one, Kylian Mbappe spoke to Telefoot (via beIN Sports) about Cavani’s return and the team’s goal of simply winning.

“He is in another team now,” Mbappe said. “I wish him the best, but he is no longer one of us. We will play against him, and we will try to beat them.”

A win for PSG can go a long way in its goal of finishing first place in group stage play this season. For instance, PSG’s home win against Real Madrid last season was the key factor in the club’s run to eventually clinching its Champions League group.
