‘He’s a Fantastic Player, but He’s Still a Kid’ – Diego Maradona Gives His Thoughts on PSG Forward

The world of soccer has had great characters, such as Diego Armando Maradona, one of the sport’s legends. With the Argentina international turning 60-years-old, France Football Maradona their cover star in the magazine’s latest issue. 

Maradona interviewed with the French media outlet to discuss some of the best players to have played the game. The former SSC Napoli player mentions that Xavi Hernández and Luka Modric are the best players to have played in the midfield. 

Afterward, France Football (via Canal Supportersasked the Argentine to give his thoughts on Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé. Maradona had high praise for the 21-year-old, but he adds that Mbappé is still a young player. 

“He’s a fantastic player, but he’s still a kid. He has to play matches and more matches; he must play lots of competitions to continue to grow,” Maradona said. “He must especially be careful of defenders who can slaughter his ankle. I know something about it. But I have to admit that he goes really very fast and that he has a particular touch on the ball.”

Often people can forget how young the France international is considering he came on to the scene during the 2016-17 season with AS Monaco. We will see if Mbappé takes Maradona’s advice on avoiding defenders who will attempt to take out his ankles.
