Goalkeeper Alexandre Letellier Reflects on his Decision to Sign With PSG

Paris Saint-Germain filled its third-string goalkeeper vacancy when it signed Alexandre Letellier on a free transfer deal. The agreement between the two parties is just for a one-year deal, so Letellier will once again become a free agent next year.

As it was for many PSG supporters, Letellier was shocked when the call came from the club regarding its interest in signing him. But for the former PSG goalkeeper, it was not a difficult decision to make. Letellier spoke to the French-based outlet France Bleu Paris about returning to the club.

“It is true that when the call arrives, it is a little difficult to realize,” Letellier said. “It is my agent who calls me first to tell me that Paris was interested in my profile. It is true that it takes a little time to realize but once you start to have the people of the club on the phone you tell yourself that it is very real. After you do not think anymore, you sign.

“I spoke a little with the people of the club because they wanted to explain the project to me with me. The love I have for this club … there is no question.”

Letellier will be the third-string goalkeeper behind starter Keylor Navas and backup Sergio Rico. Thus, Letellier is not expected to receive much playing time unless injuries sideline both talents. Still, he is looking forward to working with both goalkeepers over his one-year stint with the club.

“It’s great to be able to work with them,” Letellier said. “It’s fun every day to be able to work with two people like that. In addition, beyond the sporting side, outside these are really top people in human terms, who very quickly came to me to put me at ease. It is a pleasure to be able to interact with them.”

For now, Letellier will just be watching from the bench or stands until the club comes calling for him to appear in a game.
