Bayern Munich Defender Denies Rumor That he Talked to Mbappe About Possibly Leaving for PSG

FC Bayern Munich defender Lucas Hernandez is once again downplaying any links and rumors about him leaving for a new club.

Hernandez had just signed with Bayern last year on an €80 million transfer deal from Atletico Madrid. But due to an underwhelming season where he faced injury issues and struggled to establish a spot in the starting lineup for Bayern, rumors began circulating about whether he could already possibly be on his way out.

For one, a rumor gained traction last month about Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe’s attempt to persuade Hernadez to leave Bayern and sign for PSG. The rumor seemed to suggest that Mbappe was plotting ahead and just beginning his recruiting efforts to bring the French defender to the reigning Ligue 1 champions. But so far, there have been no reports of PSG showing any kind of serious interest in signing Hernandez over the current transfer window.

More so, Hernandez is saying (via Onze Mondial) that Mbappe’s rumored attempt did not transpire last month.

“If Mbappé really tried to convince me to come to PSG?” Hernandez exclaimed. “No, we talked to each other a bit to see my situation, to know how it was going here for me. But we never spoke seriously of Paris.”

Considering that Bayern had just recently signed Hernandez, it would have taken a blockbuster offer from PSG to even attempt to sign the defender over the ongoing transfer window. It is safe to say that Hernandez is staying put at Bayern for quite a while now.
