Video: Thomas Tuchel on Alessandro Florenzi Potentially Starting Against Marseille

Alessandro Florenzi is the newest member of the Paris Saint-Germain squad. With the capital club having Thilo Kerher play center-back with the absence of Marquinhos due to contracting the coronavirus, there’s a possibility that the 29-year-old could make his debut against Olympique de Marseille.

In his press conference, PSG manager Thomas Tuchel opened up about the possibility of Florenzi starting in Le Classique instead of playing Layvin Kurzawa playing out of position at right-back as he did on Thursday against RC Lens.

“Maybe he has to play because it’s an important game, we will wait for training today and tomorrow morning, and we will make a decision. He played for the Italian team. It gives us a lot of tactical possibilities, but it’s not the plan to change tactically with his arrival,” Tuchel said.

“He replaces Thomas Meunier with his offensive force. He is reliable. He was one of the best in his role in Serie A for many years. I like his mentality and his energy on the pitch. I hope he’s ready to play. He can start. That’s clear.”
