Video: Paredes on Argentines Wanting To Win a World Cup for Messi and Di María Not Receiving a Call-up To Their National Team

The 2022 FIFA World Cup is inching closer, and it will likely be the last time Lionel Messia dawns an Argentina jersey.

As a result, the players who received a call up from La Albiceleste for the World Cup qualifiers will be wanting to win the trophy for the 33-year-old, who will be 35-years-old when the tournament starts.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes received a call-up for the Argentina National Team and spoke with Mariano Closs on Radio Continental AM 590 y FM 104.3. The 26-year-old discussed how it’s every Argentine’s dream to help win Messi a World Cup.

“We have a National Team to compete with anyone. The dream of all Argentines is that Messi has a World Cup. We are here to start the Qualifiers in the best way,” Paredes said.

The conversation then switched as Closs asked Paredes for his thoughts on his capital club teammate, Ángel Di María, not receiving a call-up for their World Cup qualifying matches against Ecuador and Bolivia.

“I think there are a lot of players who want to be in the National Team, but the coach has to make decisions and they have to be respected,” Paredes said.
