Paris Saint-Germain continues to look for a backup striker, and they’re reportedly circling back on a familiar name as they’re in talks with Eric Maxime Choupo-Moting.
The 31-year-old made an appearance on beIN Sports to discuss a variety of topics surrounding the capital club. The first being his current situation as he’s in talks to return to PSG.
“For the moment, I am not a Parisian. And tomorrow? I can’t say anything about that. My agents are working with PSG, and I have confidence in them,” Choupo-Moting said. “There are contacts, but at the moment, I can’t say anything. I maintain myself at home, I train, I stay in shape, and after the rest, we will see. My desire? Everyone knows that I really like PSG. Afterward, we’ll see.”
During Les Parisiens UEFA Champions League run last month, Choupo-Moting scored the game-winner against Atalanta BC in the quarterfinals. He recounted his goal versus the Italian side.
“It was a fantastic time for all Parisians and for me, of course. I will never forget this moment because it was not only a normal game; it was also the club’s 50th birthday!” Choupo-Moting said. “It had been 25 years since PSG had qualified for the semi-finals, so it was a very special moment. It was extraordinary to have been decisive for this match! And I didn’t feel any sense of revenge. Even though I always believed in myself!
Finally, with the upcoming Le Classique, Choupo-Moting gave insight into the rivalry between PSG and Olympic Marseille.
“It’s always special! I already have derby when I was at Schalke 04 against Dortmund, which was always a bit the same. The match against Marseille is even more special!” Choupo-Moting said. “But it’s not the same when there are no supporters even if there will be 5,000 at the Parc des Princes on Sunday. It’s not the same thing, but France needs it. It’s a special match that I will obviously watch!”
