Video: Bakker on the Opportunity To Takeover the Left-Back Position

Ahead of Paris Saint-Germain’s match against Stade de Reims, Mitchel Bakker spoke to the media to discuss the opportunity to take over the left-back position with an ACL injury sidelining Juan Bernat for six months and the six-match ban for Layvin Kurzawa.

Last year, the 21-year-old had to sit on the sidelines and learn with those two players in front of him. Fast forward a year later, Bakker could seize on this chance to become the starting left-back for the capital club and never let go of the reigns even when both Bernat and Kurzawa return.

“With Juan’s injury and Layvin’s suspension, it’s a great opportunity for me to play with the team. I want to take this opportunity. I hope I will play as much as I can and give it my all on the pitch,” Bakker said. “A possible departure this summer? No, I want to stay here. I am very happy at PSG. I want to stay and do everything to play as much as possible .”

“It took me a year to learn with the group, but today I feel perfectly good in this team. I will have to improve my level of play to get closer to the rest of the team. But if I have this opportunity to play, I’m ready.”
