Thilo Kehrer on Wanting To Play Center-Back and the Precautions the Squad Is Doing To Avoid Another Coronavirus Outbreak

With Marquinhos still absent from the starting eleven, Thilo Kehrer is jumping in and playing alongside Presnel Kimpembe at center-back for Paris Saint-Germain.

The 23-year-old is entering his third season in Paris, and while interviewing with Die Welt, Kehrer discussed his preferred position he hopes to play.

The capital club recently brought in AS Roma right-back Alessandro Florenzi on loan, and it’s more than likely that the 29-year-old will assume that position with Les Parisiens. As a result, it allows Kehrer to focus a bit more on playing center-back, which he will like.

“So far, I’ve played more on one side, and even higher in selection. I feel good here and have learned a lot in this position recently,” Kehrer said. “But my goal is to play more and more in the axis.”

With the center-back depth consisting of Marquinhos, Kimpembe, and Abdou Diallo, the German international has his work cut out to find minutes at that position.

Finally, Kehrer closes the interview by discussing the coronavirus outbreak that the PSG squad is experiencing with seven players testing positive. The 23-year-old mentions the precautions they’re taking to avoid any more contractions of the virus within the team.

“We are very careful and pay particular attention to compliance with health rules. In the last few months, we have been tested very often, these days, even more.”
