‘The Situation Was Complicated, So It Was Important To Win Tonight’ – Draxler on PSG’s Victory Over Metz

Paris Saint-Germain headed into their match against FC Metz with Neymar Jr. out because of suspension and Kylian Mbappé dealing with his coronavirus infection. Meanwhile, Ángel Di María is playing his second game after coming off his situation with the virus.

As a result, Julian Draxler had his number called upon as manager Thomas Tuchel inserted him into the starting eleven, where he would score the game-winning goal in stoppage time.

However, before helping secure three points with a last-minute goal, the 26-year-old had an okay performance before scoring. Draxler played 90 minutes with 72 touches while completing 49 of 55 passes for an 89-percent completion percentage and registering three key passes.

One wart in Draxler’s performance against Metz is the 15 possessions lost, but the German international put that behind him when he scored the game’s lone goal.

After the match, he took to the microphone to speak with PSG’s website to discuss the win.

“The situation was complicated, so it was important to win tonight. It’s hard, we created chances, we are not 100%, if we had scored in the first half, it would have been easier, but we had to work hard to win.”
