‘The Group is Very Compact and Strong’ — Herrera on PSG’s Unity This Season

Paris Saint-Germain has had a roller-coaster start to its Ligue 1 campaign. From its early losing streak to now run of strong performances, it has been an uphill battle for manager Thomas Tuchel. Still, the team is pulling through as it now seeks to reach the top of the league table.

For midfielder Ander Herrera, he has been impressed with the unity of the team this season. He answered questions from fans for PSG TV and talked about the togetherness within the group.

“The group is very compact and strong,” Herrera said. “It’s not just at the end of last season, it hasn’t changed since I’ve been here. I think we’re a family, it’s great to come here every day when you have this feeling. It means that we are a fantastic group.”

Herrera also touched on his tenure with the club so far. He has been a superb signing for the club thanks to his versatility in the midfield.

“I have the opportunity to play for the biggest club in France,” Herrera said. “So the only thing I can say is that I will try to enjoy every day, every minute, practice and game.”

Tuchel has garnered much criticism as of late for the team’s slow start to the campaign. Still, Herrera well appreciates Tuchel and what he has provided for the club with his managerial expertise.

“It is the coach who arrived the furthest in the Champions League,” Herrera said. “We won a lot of trophies last season (Ligue 1, Coupe de France, Coupe de la Ligue and Trophee des Champions). As I said before, this is a fantastic opportunity because he changes a lot of systems and works different systems. For me, it’s a good experience.”

Herrera sure hopes to keep the momentum from last season rolling into the current new campaign.
