Paris Saint-Germain prospect Xavi Simons could be called up to the first-team and be available for the upcoming Ligue 1 opener against RC Lens, according to a report from Le Parisien.
Simons is a regular with PSG’s U19 side but was recently called up to feature in training sessions with the first-team. If selected for the squad, Simons may not start in the fixture against Lens, but he could possibly be in line to make his official debut for the first-team. Simons made his first appearance with PSG last month in a friendly against Ligue 2 side Sochaux.
PSG manager Thomas Tuchel also selected other prospects to take part in training, including goalkeeper Denis Franchi.
PSG will need as many reinforcements as it can get due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak within the team. In total, seven PSG talents have tested positive for the coronavirus, including star forward Kylian Mbappe. All seven players have been ruled out for the upcoming league fixture against Lens on Thursday.
For the moment, the upcoming league contest this week is slated to proceed forward.
