Report: PSG Turn Away Celtic’s Loan Offer for Left-Back Bakker

Paris Saint-Germain has rejected a loan offer from Celtic FC for left-back Mitchel Bakker, according to a report from Sky Sports.

PSG is not currently interested in entertaining Celtic’s loan offer for the up-and-coming defensive talent. It is unclear whether Celtic sent a one-year loan bid or a multiple-year one for Bakker. However, the report does mention that PSG is not completely ruling out a possible Bakker deal with Celtic.

Celtic is on the hunt for a left-back. The Scottish side lost now-former starting left-back Kieran Tierney to Arsenal last summer, and the club now eyes a new talent for the position.

Bakker made five appearances in all competitions for the club last season, including in its duo of domestic cup final victories.

PSG currently has two other starting left-back options for the upcoming season, which is why the club is not completely shutting the door on departing ways with Bakker. Layvin Kurzawa and Juan Bernat are slated to feature for Les Parisiens this upcoming season, with the latter being a potential favorite to begin the new campaign as the starting left-back.
