Report: PSG Transfer Target Close To Joining Bayer Leverkusen

The other day, Atlético Madrid sporting director, Andrea Berta, mentioned that Paris Saint-Germain was having conversations with them over right-back Santiago Arias.

With Atlético manager Diego Simeone no longer counting on the 28-year-old, since the Argentine coach has other players like Šime Vrsaljko and Kieran Trippier as a priority to cover the position occupied by the Colombian.

Despite only appearing in 18 matches, Arias is drawing interest from many teams in the transfer market aside from the capital club. Everton FC is trying to assemble the Colombia national team with James Rodríguez and Yerry Mina already playing for The Toffees.

Another club that reportedly wasn’t in talks for Arias, but technically were according to Berta is Bayer 04 Leverkusen. However, the strategy of mentioning the interest of other clubs worked.

Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted out

“Santiago Arias to Bayer Leverkusen, last details and here we go soon. Personal terms agreed and final steps to be completed between Bayer and Atlético de Madrid”.

Los Colchoneros want a transfer fee between €10-million and €12-million, but it’s a sum that doesn’t need to be paid right away as the Spanish club is pleased with the possibility that a loan will be made with an obligation to buy.
