In May, reported interest from Paris Saint-Germain over Atlético Madrid’s Thomas Partey began to surface. Since then, not much smoke has come out of this rumor, but with one month left until the summer transfer window closes, its beginning to resurface.
According to ESPN, Arsenal FC have yet to submit an offer to Atlético for the Ghana international. This news now puts the capital club in the driver seat to potentially land the 27-year-old.
During the 2019-20 season for the Spanish club, Partey made 46 total appearances, where he mainly played as a defensive midfielder. Furthermore, in his tenure with Atlético, he has made 185 total appearances, with 143 of them coming in the role of a number six.
With Partey filling the need of a defensive midfielder and having the height that PSG sporting director Leonardo wants, the club must do everything to secure him.
As for the cost, Partey’s transfer value is roughly €37 million per Transfermarkt.
