When playing as a backup, it requires a player to understand the role and have the mindset of know he’s the number two guy. Not a lot of players can handle being the second option.
However, Eric Choupo-Moting knows the role of a backup and doesn’t have the ego to think of it as a lesser one. Furthermore, he understands that he will get his minutes, but knows that he’s there to play behind the starter.
Despite becoming a meme and the butt of a joke for preventing then-teammate Christopher Nkunku from scoring a goal, the Cameroon international did score the game-winner in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals against Atalanta BC.
Much like they did with Sergio Rico, Choupo-Moting is looking to bring back the 31-year-old striker to backup Mauro Icardi, according to L’Equipe.
Along with Choupo-Moting having no issue being the backup, bringing him back would continue the high moral that PSG is looking to carry over into this new season.
