Paris Saint-Germain is currently in talks with current free agent Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting for a new contract deal, according to Telefoot‘s Saber Desfarges.
PSG is seriously giving consideration to signing Choupo-Moting and taking him off the free-agent market. The two sides are currently at a standstill regarding the duration of the deal. However, both sides are confident that they will soon come to terms on a new agreement.
At the moment, starting striker Mauro Icardi does not have a backup. Club legend Edinson Cavani departed from the team when his contract expired in June. Choupo-Moting was the third center-forward on the depth chart this past season and is currently without a contract.
PSG currently does not have many options available to fill its backup center-forward vacancy. There have been no reports of the club engaging in serious talks with any other striker for a possible transfer deal. Thus, PSG has turned its attention back to re-signing the hero from the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal fixture against Atalanta.
