Report: PSG in Contact with Valencia for Midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia

Paris Saint-Germain has ramped up its interest in midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia as the club recently reached out to Valencia CF to inquire about the talent, according to a report from the Spanish-based outlet Golsmedia.

PSG reportedly contacted Valencia to seek information on Kondogbia’s current standing with the club and whether the talent would be willing to join Les Parisiens. PSG reached out to Valencia simply to inquire about Kondogbia, as the club did not submit a formal offer for the talent.

New Valencia manager Javi Garcia would prefer to keep Kondogbia as part of his midfield rotation for the upcoming season, but the club is willing to listen to offers from PSG or any other team for the midfielder.

The report does mention that Kondogbia’s release clause would drop by a significant amount next year, although it is unclear whether PSG would prefer to wait to acquire the talent.

PSG is looking to bolster its midfield depth and has zoned in on Kondogbia for a number of reasons. According to a recent report from Foot Mercato, PSG is interested in Kondogbia because of his previous ties with Ligue 1 and experience in playing in the UEFA Champions League competition.

As mentioned, the Golsmedia report notes that Valencia is open to offloading Kondogbia, so it will come down to whether PSG will end up meeting the asking price from the Spanish club for the talent.
