Report: Napoli Aim to Keep Fabian Ruiz Amid Interest From PSG

Napoli has committed to keeping midfielder Fabian Ruiz this summer amid interest from teams such as Paris Saint-Germain, according to a report from the Spanish-based outlet AS.

The report mentions that PSG sporting director Leonardo and manager Thomas Tuchel are both fans of Ruiz. PSG is thoroughly interested in signing Ruiz this summer but would need to offload players first in order to orchestrate a deal for the talent. But regardless of just how much PSG accumulates in transfer sales, Napoli has no intention of selling Ruiz this summer.

Unless a monumental offer comes Napoli’s way for the midfielder, the club will hold on to the talent for the upcoming season. The Serie A side has its sights on extending Ruiz, but talks on a new contract are currently at a standstill.

Ruiz will remain on PSG’s radar over the upcoming year, but the club will have fierce competition from two other powerhouse clubs for the talent. Per the AS report, Spanish sides FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are both also intrigued with Ruiz, but they each have decided to hold off their interest in signing the talent until next year.

Ruiz would fit PSG’s long-desired aspirations of signing a workhorse midfielder who has the prowess to exert an impact in the attack and defense. But for now, the side will simply have to wait to pursue the highly coveted midfielder.
