Report: Italian Club Targeting Julian Draxler To Help Bring Creativity To Their Midfield

It is the final stretch in the transfer market, so all clubs are looking to make the most of their options to strengthen their squads. One of them is Lazio, who is looking to improve as they’ll be participating in the UEFA Champions League this season.

The Italian club has a target circled that they’ll hope to acquire before the window closes in a week and a half, and that player is Julian Draxler, according to Corriere dello Sport. Lazio can offer a five-year contract to the Germany international, but his move depends on Draxler wanting to leave, but a move from Paris to Rome wouldn’t be a downgrade for his lifestyle.

Furthermore, Lazio might have to negotiate a friendlier annual salary considering Draxler earns €7-million per season with the capital club. However, they should have money to potentially pay the 26-year-old due to the failed move to acquire David Silva, who ended up heading to Real Sociedad.

In the past, Draxler has reportedly rejected moves to Leeds United, Bayer Leverkusen, and Hertha Berlin, so it will be interesting to see if Lazio’s offer entices him to head to Rome.
