Report: Former PSG Forward Cavani Turned Down Contract Offer From Fenerbahce

Former Paris Saint-Germain forward and current free agent Edinson Cavani has received interest from multiple teams over the past weeks. So far, he has not been able to find a suitor for a new team. But one club recently elected to submit a surprise contract proposal for the talent.

Cavani declined a contract offer from Fenerbahce, according to a report from the Turkish-based outlet Ajansspor. Fenerbahce submitted a contract deal worth an estimated €5 million net per season. The club is on the lookout for a new striker and turned its attention to the most coveted free agent forward on the market. But per the report, the €5 million net per season offer was not sufficient to what Cavani is asking for, and no agreement was reached on a contract deal.

Fenerbahce’s offer was a long shot considering how Cavani has turned down higher offers from other teams. For instance, Cavani recently elected not to sign a €6.5 million net per season contract offer from Juventus. The Uruguayan striker is preferably seeking a deal worth €12 million net per season. Juventus was not willing to meet Cavani’s high wage demands, thus leaving the forward on the free agent market.

Cavani’s search for a club that is willing to meet his salary requirements continues.
