Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Julian Draxler has been in the rumor mill as of late, with reports suggesting that he could be on his way out of the club. However, the German talent could end up staying put after all.
Draxler is not interested in leaving the club over the current transfer window, according to a report from Germany’s Sky Sport. Per the report, the 26-year-old wants to remain with PSG for the upcoming season and is hoping that the ‘tight schedule’ can provide him with more playing time. Furthermore, the report suggests that Draxler may prefer to become a free agent next year. He would be in demand for more money during free agent contract talks since the negotiating team would not have to post a transfer fee to acquire the talent.
For the moment, PSG likely may not prefer to sell the talent right away. The club is set to play in four fixtures over a 10-day period and will do so without seven players due to positive coronavirus tests. Manager Thomas Tuchel needs as many available players over this difficult time period.
After this run of fixtures, PSG could very well push for Draxler’s exit. The club is reportedly seeking a buyer for Draxler. Teams such as Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen and Premier League side Leeds United both have been reported to show interest, but neither side has entered into deep transfer negotiations with PSG for the talent.
This transfer dilemma could end up going into the final days of the current transfer window.
